Shift handoffs

Turn shift notes into a clear brief.

Officer training

Create a focused training brief.

Executive briefs

Summarize what leadership needs to know.

Procedure checklists

Turn approved procedures into practical checks.

Start in five minutes

Try a fictional shift handoff.

You only need an AI assistant approved by your organization for practice with made-up information. The exercise includes the exact prompt, a finished example, and corrections to check.

Try the exercise
Three terms you will see
Synthetic information
Made-up notes used for practice.
Sanitized information
Information with sensitive details removed or replaced, and approved for the tool you are using.
Human review
A person checks the draft against its sources and decides whether it can be used.

Is this your level?

This path fits when…

  • You have used an AI assistant only casually or not at all.
  • Your immediate needs are writing, planning, training, or communication—not automated detection or response.
  • You need a repeatable method for deciding what information is safe to use.
  • You can route drafts to a supervisor, policy owner, or subject-matter reviewer.

Operating principles

Practice the controls with the workflow.

01

Practice with made-up information

Use fictional notes or public sources. For real work, your organization must approve the tool and the information you can use.

02

Give AI a clear task

Ask it to organize or draft. Decisions about access, dispatch, intent, blame, or emergency action stay with authorized people.

03

Check against the source

Compare every important statement with the notes or source document. A fluent answer may still be wrong.

04

Keep the review with the draft

Save the input, prompt, output, corrections, approver, and date together.

30-day path

Build capability through evidence, not consumption.

  1. Week 1

    Learn the boundary

Classify five everyday tasks by information sensitivity and consequence. Run only one public or synthetic drafting exercise.

  2. Week 2

    Standardize the instruction

Use a fixed prompt structure: role, objective, approved context, required output, sources, unknowns, and human approval.

  3. Week 3

    Create a review artifact

Complete one guide below and save the source, draft, corrections, and approval decision as a small evidence packet.

  4. Week 4

    Teach the workflow

Have a colleague repeat the process. Record where they misunderstood the boundary or accepted unsupported language.

Readiness to advance

The next level begins when the consequence and system change.

Move to the intermediate path when a team repeats the workflow, the input boundary is approved, quality is measured, exceptions are recorded, and a named owner can stop or change the process.
